Great Outdoors – Enjoy Deep Creek Lake scenery

Be inspired! Forty-plus artists show and sell their work at the 9th Annual Art in the Park in one of Western Maryland’s most magnificent settings – Deep Creek Lake State Park at the Discovery Center, July 12-13. Arrive by boat, car or  foot – free admission. Dixieland music, food, naturalist programs featured. On the east side of the lake – where recreational choices abound.

The variety of artwork at the event will include: jewelry, photography, woodturned items, native wildflowers and habitat boxes, pottery, fused glass, original artwork, wood painted furniture, tatting, handwoven baskets, wool rugs, handmade soaps, children’s books w/ the author and much more. Hands-on activities will delight the children and everyone will enjoy the delicious food. 

“Our volunteers are very proud to host this first-class event to the community.  We work hard to raise money in a variety of ways so that we may offer more programs to all ages and we are proud to be a part of the Maryland Park Service,” said Fred Schaich, President of the Western Garrett County State Park Volunteers, Inc. (WGCSPVI)

Art in the Park will run on Saturday, July 12 from 10 – 5 and on Sunday, July 13 from 10 – 4, rain or shine.  Admission is free and docking is available for those wishing to come by water.  While enjoying Art in the Park, people can also visit the Discovery Center, an educational/interpretive building, open 10 – 5 daily in the Summer.  Art in the Park is geared to provide enjoyment for the entire family.
